How it Works
The SL-R1+ must be parallel to the ground with the lens pointing opposite to the direction of movement (backwards) in order to detect the correct braking direction. When you slow down rapidly, the SL-R1+ changes from the current light mode to solid mode at full brightness for 2 seconds (or longer depending on how fast you are moving) then returns to the current light mode.
Limitations
- If the SL-R1+ is not parallel to the ground it may not provide accurate braking detection.
- Riding uphill or downhill may cause false-positive brake detection or missed brake detection.
- Vibration of the light may cause false-positive brake detection or missed brake detection.

Just the best lights for your ride.
Upgraded my lights to the + versions, what I love is the universal mounting between all my rides, easy blutooth syncing and the quality of the lights. So bright I need to use on lower settings as to not blind others. Excellent product.
I bought this Shredlights bundle with the SL1000+ and the SL-R1+ to increase my visibility when riding my skateboard. I wanted a lighting solution that was adaptable and modular, since I didn't design my battery pack to run integrated lights. I am happy with the lights and the feature set. The SL-1000s are waaayyyy brighter than I thought, but they provide great visibility in the Alaska winters and to drivers when I am on the road. I love the brake functionality on the SL-R1s they compliment my helmet brake light well, and they too are waaayyy brighter than I expected even in daylight. I did have an issue with one of the original SL-R1s I was sent. After charging, the light simply stopped casting a beam, but would still turn on (It would get warm to the touch). I sent an email to Shredlights support and they handled everything, sending out a new one the next business day, and I received it within the week. The Shredlights app and the Bluetooth functionality does provide some great customization options, but you should expect to still have to turn them on manually after 20 minutes. Furthermore, I do think the packaging for shipping leaves much to be desired, especially when shipping to Alaska. There simply is not enough protection for the lights, and I believe that's how the single SL-R1 was damaged. Nonetheless, between the quality of the lights and the customer service, I can say I am a happy customer!
They all sync up and are easily controlled with your phone app. Not perfect but still the best out there right now. Also very good and fast customer service on their team
The Bluetooth app takes forever to reconnect to the light. You'll either have to turn them on manually or just wait.
The best purchase I’ve made for my electric skateboard. It opens up a world of opportunity for night riding. The way the SL-1000+ lights up the way in front of you is a game changer. Super bright and reaches far enough that if something or someone is in the way you can stop just in time. I’m no longer restricted to riding during the daytime, and when I do ride I’m super visible to everyone. Would 10/10 recommend these to anyone. Five stars.

I eagerly received my ShredLights and was initially disappointed that they didn’t mount the way I’d expected. ShredLights reached out to me after I left a petty bad review, and offered multiple solutions to my issue. Andrew, in particular, was very helpful and understanding.
The lights themselves are tremendous. I feel so much more confident and safe on my night rides. I can fully illuminate and ride roads that are too busy and dangerous during the day.
If you’re on the fence at all about buying these, do it. You won’t regret it.
